Frank Palmer Boreson

Frank Palmer Boreson

Frank Palmer Boreson age 80, of Forest Grove, Oregon, passed away on April 9, 2023, at Robison Healthcare Center after a long battle with dementia.

Frank was born in Los Angeles, California, and adopted at birth by Palmer and Elizabeth Boreson. As a child, he lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, and at the age of nine, they moved to Oregon City, Oregon, where he grew up attending school at St John’s Catholic School, Central Catholic High, and graduated in 1960 from Oregon City High School.

1960 was a big year. In April he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA. In December, he married his wife of 62 years, Zelma L White (not many people have reached that milestone). After his service, he continued to serve the community as a reserve police officer on the Oregon City and Hillsboro Police departments.

Frank was a lover of animals and worked for The Oregon Humane Society in the 60s and later for The Washington County Animal Control where he retired after over 22 years of service. He was known there for adopting the senior pugs and giving them a good home for their remaining days. He especially loved his Chihuahua Mitsi (I’m sure he is happy to see her in heaven).

If you knew Frank, you have heard some fishing stories, his favorite pastime. Some of his favorite spots were The Clackamas, Willamette and Trask Rivers for salmon and he liked going up the Columbia River Gorge fishing for bass. He was able to go to Florida in 2008 bass fishing Lake Kissimmee where he caught a few, but the BIG ONE GOT AWAY. LOL. They took their dream cruise to Alaska after retiring where he was able to see some of his childhood stomping grounds and all of Alaska’s beauty.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Forest Grove where he served as Exalted Ruler three times and when he was more active. He and Zelma would go to the dances and help run the Bingo games.

He was survived by his wife of 62 years and 3 children Son Eric Boreson, Son Erin Boreson, and Daughter Ivonna Hagen. He had five granddaughters: Cleone Langley, Tiffany Boreson, Haley Hagen, Kim Stone, Alyssa Poage and three great-grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13th, 2023, at The Forest Grove Elks Lodge (2810 Pacific Ave.)

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ASPCA in Frank’s name.
